Andrew
Andrew has been training Jiu-Jitsu since 2004. Jiu-Jitsu has allowed him to meet so many great people from around the world, waking up every day thinking about training. He established Arete Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with his longtime friend Mitsuhiro in 2014. Currently, Andrew is a black belt under black belt Wagnney Fabiano and Leo Santos. And a proud member of Nova Uniao Canada. His deep knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu and fine details will be presented in All Levels class and No-Gi class.
Mitsuhiro
Mitsuhiro has first started training in Tokyo, Japan in 1998. He moved to Nova Uniao Japan after he received a blue belt Then, he has been training under professor Osamu Abe since 2001. His black belt was received by professor Abe in 2016, and now he is black belt first degree. After he moved to Thailand, Arete BJJ was established with his friend Andrew in 2014, he mainly leads the Intro, No-Gi, Kids, and All levels class. With his expertise in Shiatsu therapist, using anatomical knowledge to instruct Jiu-Jitsu has become his strong teaching point. His motto is “Jiu-Jitsu is lever”, weak people, small people are welcomed to learn the great martial art.
Achilles
Having started Judo at a very young age, it led to over a decade of intense Judo competition on the international circuit. Since retiring from competitive Judo, most of his prior passion and motivation is now directed towards teaching at all levels (from kids to beginners to advanced). Due to a constant pursuit of knowledge to better his grappling game, Jiu-Jitsu has been the most natural ‘Art’ for the Arete purple belt, and the former captain of the national Thai Judo team for so many reasons. The two main reasons being, even with multiple injuries acquired over the years Jiu-Jitsu with its diversity allows him to train and avoid further injury. Finally, he feels it is important to love and enjoy where you learn and practice, for Achilles, that place is Arete.
Tauquil
Tauquil has started training Jiu-Jitsu in mid-2012, after having his interest piqued years before from watching the original UFC’s on VHS. He had no prior martial arts experience and found the first class confusing, uncomfortable, and probably the most fun he has had in a long time! He fell in love with the sport almost immediately. He finds Jiu-Jitsu is an intoxicating blend of rigorous physical activity mixed with high creativity and thought. Tauquil is currently a purple belt under Andrew MacDonald, teaching women class, assisting Beginning and All Levels class.
PK
PK aka. Phakorn Ngamganokwan is a Nova Uniao purple belt under Andrew MacDonald. His passionate in Jiu-Jitsu has emerged in 2013 when a professional Muay Thai fighter taught him grappling at Chiang Mai. The same year when he moved to Bangkok to pursue his career as an Engineer. PK decided to start training Jiu-Jitsu since then. Currently, PK is teaching Women class every Sunday morning. Also, assisting Beginner and All Levels class. He speaks both Thai and English plus full-time smiling and laughing.
